WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH EVENT
“Beyond The Print – Combined Media Monoprint Constructions”
An exhibition of paintings by artist Jan Meister
March 7 through 29, 2016
March 7 through 29, 2016
Artist Reception: Tuesday, March 22nd at 1:00 p.m.
Jan Meister is a printmaker at heart but utilizes mixed media and digital imaging as part of her artworks. Her works can sometimes be probing and introspective, yet others are humorous and playful. All are deeply personal, reflecting her past as a south side high school educator for 30 years, and present as an artist and humanistic optimist. She often begins with her love of texture and frequently includes mundane collage objects such as parts of inter-office envelopes, book covers, and torn paper. She uses them as compositional elements, which then develop into works that address her past and present while sharing her love of nature and reflection upon our endangered ecosystem.
Just a fraction of Jancie's work, Truly amazing the layers of printed materials and found papers with thread, wood, branches and so much more.
