Demo by Laura Lein-Svencner “The Fine Art of Collage”
National Award Winner and National Collage Society Signature member, co-founder of the Midwest Collage Society, Laura Lein-Svencner will share the process of creating your own collage papers; assembling a collage with a tack iron and the application of an image transfer. As a self-taught artist, Laura has been working in the medium of hand papermaking and collage for 21 years, learning and exploring all the ins and outs of paper itself. She primarily focuses on composition, layering, color and ability to create depth in her collage artwork. Her works have been published in many books by North Light Publishing, The Artist Magazine and The Professional Artist. This demonstration is a must see if you are interested in beginning, or have had some experience with, collage.

MCS MEETINGS

November 5    12 - 2:30pm
Tammy Deck, fabric artist, will present a program on felted collage.
Tammy will have a collection of her finished pieces which include works she considers "collage" in layout and sensibility. She will be demonstrating this wet felt variation for the group.
Tammy L Deck creates one-of-a-kind textiles that blur the lines between fashion and art by intertwining fibers, threads and fabric in a painterly, collage and even sculptural approach which are all transformed, as if by magic, by hand through water.  Deck’s award-winning work has been featured on HGTV and DIY television, appeared in books, magazines and numerous Chicago area Fine Art Shows, as well as, solo and group exhibits. Her body of work has captured numerous "Best of Show" and various ribbon awards. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Deck studied fashion design and holds a degree in Clothing and Textile Science with Fashion Design and Fiber Art Emphasis (1985).  Deck has been teaching textile art and design from her own Studio & Gallery in Westmont, IL since 1993 and added a second location in Berwyn, IL with the purchase of a live/work building in 2015.
Learn more about her artreprenurial career at www.TLDDESIGNS.com
Deck currently has work featured in a group exhibit at the State Street Gallery of Morris University in Chicago and will be exhibiting for the 6th year during the "One of a Kind Show" at Chicago's Merchandise Mart December 7-10.

December 3  Christmas Holiday Party/pot luck /gift exchange.
It is suggested that gifts be a hand-made object or be useful art supplies. We will probably not have room for the swap table at the December meeting. Mo will have a sign-up sheet at the November meeting for helping with set-up and clean-up, as well as sign-up for type of food (appetiser, salad, hot dish, dessert).

Margi Hafer is in the process of lining-up presenters for demonstrations and workshops for 2018. Since she will not be in town for the March meeting, we hope that a MCS member will offer to do something for that month.
Please email or call Margi if you are interested in presenting a demonstration or workshop during 2018, or if you have a suggestion for a non-member presenter.
