June's Newsletter

June 2nd  noon - 2:30 pm  
1-2:30 pm "Pouring Watercolor Techniques for Synthetic Texture" 
Watercolorist, Sandy Newell, will demonstrate her watercolor pouring technique which involves mixing up various colors of watercolor paints and pouring the paint over things like lace, coffee filters, rubber bands, washers and other objects to create interesting patterns. The poured  paper and the other objects may then be used in collage. She will bring in altered paper examples and finished pieces of her work.

Drop-off for the Tall Grass exhibit is Sunday, June 2nd, Monday, June 3rd, and Tuesday, June 4th, 10:00 - 2:00.  Use the alley door.  Artists should inform Claudia their intended drop-off as the gallery is not officially open on all of the above days.

The Sisters Project Book is 147 pages of full color photos of artwork: some finished by my sister, Donna, and the rest by 57 collaborating artists that completed Donna's art to honor her memory and raise money for charitable causes and arts organizations.
I ordered 10 hard copy and 20 soft copy books from Blurb to be able to give a discounted price (30% off retail + tax and shipping) to Sisters Project Collaborating Artists, My extended Family, My Students, and  Midwest Collage Society artists who would like a copy of the book. 

If you haven't already requested a book, but would like to order one you can email me and I will bring the books to our June meeting. You can pay me for your copy of the book at the meeting. As of July 1st the pricing of the book will revert to the retail price for the exhibit.

The Sisters Project Exhibit
 will take place July 1-27 at The Vogt Arts Center, 17420 67th Court, Tinley Park, IL  I plan on being at the Vogt Gallery, during gallery, hours throughout the month of July. (Sunday and Monday, closed; Tuesday 7-9 pm; Wednesday 4-7 pm; Thursday 11 am-2pm and 7-9pm; Friday 11-3pm; Saturday 11-4 pm) The artwork that will be for sale will be available for sale for a donation throughout the exhibit dates, but all work sold will remain in the gallery until the end of the reception, on July 12. All artist owned work and unsold artwork will remain in the gallery through July 27. When the exhibit is over, any unsold artwork may be donated to the charity of the collaborative artist's choice.

Reception July 12th 7-9 pm  
There will be wine, punch and refreshments in the gallery and a Jazz Band concert in the Gazebo adjacent to the historic building that houses the art gallery. It should be a lovely evening to honor my sister, Donna, and the work of all the collaborating artists, I truly hope that all of you will be able to join me at the reception. Plan to make it a special evening, There are several restaurants in the area and it will be a nice opportunity to meet the collaborating artists. I will also be doing a book signing during the reception.  Please be sure to tell your friends and invite them to the exhibit. I have attached a flyer that you can attach to your personal email to your friends.

Nancy Staszak will have a wall for her Dinosaurs at 4ArtSapce at the ZhouB Art Center (1029 W. 35th Street #403 Chicago IL) during June.
The Third Friday Reception is June 21st., 6:00 to 10:00PM. Refreshments are provided. Drop by and see all the galleries throughout the building!
