Bring your CREATIVE ENERGY to an all day work day of collage. Layer by Layer you will create another work for exhibiting. Bring your exquisite corpse so we can see what we have and more canvasses will be available for purchase. Don't forget it is a great day for swapping materials, supplies, etc. Share a snack. It's never too early to plan ahead :-) Bookbinding and Surface Treatments DuPage Art League 218 West Front Street, Wheaton, IL 60187 Mondays: Feb. 23, March 2, 9, 16, 23, April 6, 7:00-9:30 PM Torn between your love of hand bookbinding and decorative paper? This class will combine three surface treatments on paper and three bookbinding techniques. Satisfy both sides of your brain! Learn marbling and non-traditional uses for acrylic and watercolor paints. Then pair these papers with three different binding techniques. COLLAGE TECHNIQUES & CREATIVE EXPLORATION / a 2 or 3-day (your choice) PRESIDENT'S WEEKEND WORKSHOP in the artist's studio: Join us in Warwick, NY for this 2- day + an optional extra-day President's Weekend workshop in the artist's studio. Enjoy new opportunities for spontaneity as you learn how to eliminate liquid adhesives from the collage-assembly process. Other subjects to be covered include "Getting Started," Accessing our Creative Energies, "Paperless" Transfer of Printed and Photocopied Images, Preserving Found Materials, Preparation of Substrates, Sources of Tools and Materials, Presentation and Framing of Finished Works, and more (like all Talbot workshops, this workshop's specific goals will be determined by the participants at the beginning of the workshop). Hours: 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM with optional evening hours on Saturday at no extra cost. Two-day workshop fee: $250. Extra day: $75 additional. DANCING WITH DESIGN / in the Artist's Studio: During this workshop we will "free-up" our approach to composition by using collage to explore a variety of the aspects of design. Included will be intellectual, intuitive, and kinesthetic approaches to line, shape, color (including hue, value, and intensity), texture, movement, rhythm, relativity, interest, and unity. Most of the day will be devoted to hands-on interactive compositional exercises but each participant will create at least one finished work as well. Hours: 10 AM to 5 PM. Workshop fee of $110 includes all materials, a free copy of "Collage: A New Approach," access to all tools in the studio, plus lunch and refreshments. PS. There is nothing you have to buy in order to participate in any of these workshops. Yes we have a meeting for Jan 11, at 1-3 at the 1710 Plainfield Road, Darien IL
It is a meeting for the board of directors/executive.
I would also like to let the general membership know that they are welcome to this planning meeting. I would like to have the chairman of each job deliver a report about the past year and the plans for the rest of the year. If someone cannot attend, they need to send a report with their information to me by the 8th of January.
We will need to create a nominating committee.
