Hi MCS Members:
Can't
believe it's March already. Our February workday was well attended, and
we gained 2 new members. In addition to individual projects, Valentines were
made which Tania Blanco delivered to the Elmhurst Art Museum for nursing
homes. We were able to have an open discussion regarding the future
of MCS. Following are some of the highlights:
--Membership:
We are still recovering from lack of participation due to COVID. One
suggestion was that we meet every other month. Also to place our Membership Brochures
at libraries, etc.
--Programs:
Without a Program Chair, we are moving forward with relying on our membership
to present at our monthly meetings. Beth Gollan has volunteered to
share her knowledge and enjoyment of making custom
stamps from erasers, foam, linoleum etc. at our April
meeting. In May we will have an outside speaker that Tania was able to
secure. Thank you Tania. Please contact me if you are willing to
present in June. It's just 2 1/2 hours to share something you know and
others will be interested in learning. Please help to continue this
creative organization. My email is designsbynanc@gmail.com
--Exhibits
for 2022 : This year's dates and locations have been planned and
are listed below.
2023;
It was suggested that we have two exhibits a year, Spring (Downers Grove
Library) and Fall (Location to be determined) This made a lot of sense to
those present.
Fundraiser: If
it is determined that we give back to the community with a fundraiser, that
would be handled by individual(s) willing to take on the responsibility of the
function.
--2022
Creative Artists Retreat--We have changed the name to accommodate artists
of any persuasion. Discussion regarding opening the retreat to
couples. This is something that has been requested by current
participants. Additional sleeping accommodations are available at the
camp.
This is
just an overview of our discussion. The MCS Board will meet to further
discuss and make decisions on these ideas. Feel free to send an
email with additional ideas/suggestions.
Adrienne
Austin will be our presenter at the March 6th meeting showing us
how to sew the cover for a pamphlet journal which MCS will provide.
Be sure to register with Cherie Denton for
the March 6th meeting so that Adrienne will bring the necessary supplies.
