February Meeting and so much more

 Hi MCS Members,

January has flown by as will the rest of the year so let's be sure we are having fun with art whenever we have the opportunity.  Creating art enriches our lives and can provide a delightful purpose for living.

February is a Work Day so bring a project and lunch.  Remember we have the Exhibit at the Downers Grove Library in April with the theme of Awakening.  This can be your opportunity to begin or continue working on an art piece for this show while enjoying the social aspects of getting together with other MCS members.

Since no one has volunteered to take on the Education Chair, please contact me if you are willing to share your expertise and present a demonstration/workshop in March, April, May or June. It's just 2 1/2 hours to keep our organization viable.  It doesn't have to be complicated, just something you know that others will be interested in learning. My email is designsbynanc@gmail.com.  Please help us to continue this fantastic organization.

 Take care,

Nancy Castner

President

Tania will be bringing some components for making Valentine cards.  If anyone is interested, they will  be complimentary.  Also, this year again Elmhurst Art Museum has asked for donations of hand made cards that they distribute to local nursing homes.  Tania has donated in the past and will do so again this year.  Anyone having valentines to donate can give them to her and she will deliver them on the 7th of February (their deadline).  Let's spread some love during these challenging times.

Fall 2022 CREATIVITY RETREAT (sponsored by Midwest Collage Society)
Please save the dates of October 5-9, 2022 at Camp Alexander Mack.
During the Midwest Collage Society Fall 2022 CREATIVE ARTISTS RETREAT all participants will have the opportunity to create their own leather journal for writing, painting, or collaging. The leather for the cover of your journal thread and needles will be supplied, for a small fee, by our workshop presenter, Joan Lucht. Participants will supply the paper of their choice for the interior pages of their journals. You may also wish to use your own leather and materials. A list of supplies will be sent to all Retreat registrants. Photos of a sample journal are attached to this newsletter.
The journal will replace previous activities including “The Brown Bag Challenge” and “The Decorated Group Paper” activity.

Anyone with questions about the “Retreat” and registrants interested in offering a demonstration, workshop, or special entertainment during the retreat please email Margi Hafer at: margihafer@yahoo.com
