All Day Workshop “Special Fabric Dyeing Workshop”
Barrie Mason, presenter
At the home of Laura Lein-Svencner, 6718 Dale Rd. Darien IL 60561, 630-655-4492
Parfait Dying is Barrie's favorite introduction to the wonders of dying fabric.
In this workshop we will dye four squares of fabric in one container building
up colors and amazing designs. For the designs we will be using various shibori
and other resist techniques. For the color we will be using Procion MX dye that
produces vibrant and fade resistant colors. Come see how fabric dying can add
to your collage stash.
We will be outdoors, and you will each have your private workspace.
Fabric and dye will be supplied for a $7 materials fee. Advance
registration needed.
Participants should bring:
· Plastic tablecloth for your work area. A
large trash bag cut open would work
· Folding chair & TV tray table
· Apron & gloves for dye work
· 1 gallon zip-lock bag + 4-quart zip-lock bags
(for taking your work home)
· paper towels
· A tall dye container that holds at least 3 1/2
cups of water. I use a glass/plastic cylinder shaped vase found at a
thrift store. Tall and narrow is better than short and fat.
· Optional – rubber bands, string, marbles,
scissors, needle, strong thread (the instructor will bring some too).
Register for the Meeting by emailing Cherie Denton at cherayden@yahoo.com with
the SUBJECT: MCS August 1 Meeting. Let her know that you will bring the
membership application and dues with you if you haven't paid MCS dues
yet.
All participants must be paid members of the

10th.
Registration forms and additional retreat
information is attached to this email.
Early bird registration $
270. – Includes 11
meals, four nights’ accommodations.
Registrations received after August 31, will cost
$295.
The 5-day retreat allows time for some off-site outings such as visits to
shops, restaurants, theatre, antique centers. All are optional and small groups
usually arrange these independently.
We request that attendee be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to attending
camp.
The camp has made some changes including
all new windows in the Sara Major building (where we stay) and air purifiers in
all buildings for better ventilation. Workspaces will be one person to a table
AS before, but spread out. Dining room will have a served buffet and be geared
to social distancing. Masks will be required indoors in group areas.
Our retreat is limited to only 25 people.
There are so many outdoor areas to enjoy as well. In the past many of us have
gone for an evening to the Round Barn Theater in Nappanee, Indiana. It is now
open with limited "safe distance" seating. A musical version of
"Little Women" will be available while we're at "Camp
Mack". Early October is a wonderful time to enjoy the beauty of Camp
Alexander Mack and our renewed ability to share being together with our artist
friends. Registration forms will be available in April and attached to the
April Newsletter. We hope you will consider this wonderful opportunity to
create, share and learn from each other.
