March and Aprils Meetings
Dear MCS Members,
Hope you are all doing well having survived our bitter cold days. Isn't it interesting that sometimes the coldest days present with sunshine on the snow covered world that makes you think you can go for a long walk to soak it all in but would be frostbitten in a half hour! Excellent days to stay in and play with art instead.
Hopefully you have been busy creating pieces for the Downers Grove Library. Drop-off will be on Saturday, April 5th 10-noon. That's the day before our April meeting. Details are below under Exhibits.
Please be aware that this MCS Newsletter is for both March AND April. On March 2nd, Nancy Swingle will share how to create origami dresses. On April 6h, we will have Carol Kazwick provide a delightful hands-on program, creating collages. Details are listed below under Meetings.
On April 6th we will also have elections for the MCS Board. It will consist of a committee rather than specific offices going forward. Anyone willing to participate please contact a current Board member whose emails are at the end of this newsletter.
Take care,
Nancy Castner
President
MEETINGS
March 2 - 12:30pm to 2:30pm - Nancy Swingle will be giving a workshop on making Origami Dresses. Please bring double stick tape if you have it and Nancy will bring the rest.
Please let Nancy (nswingle@myyahoo.com) know if you or anyone you know would like to share a technique or idea at a meeting and give a demo. It's fun and great to learn something new.
Please bring a glue stick and double sided tape.
April 6 - 12:30pm to 2:30pm - Carol Kaswick will present a program about the beginnings of collage as a fine art form during the period of Surrealism at the beginning of the 20th century. We will do a hands-on collaborative collage project which was popular during the period called “The Exquisite Corpse”. If time allows we can also create individual collages in the Surrealist style.
Please bring scissors, glue sticks and or your favorite glue and a table cover.
