A special message from Mary Warner, who has done a marvelous job arranging our February meeting! Just one additional note: We will NOT have a swap table at our February meeting because we anticipate needing all of our table space for this shared meeting.
We’ll need to clean up at 2:30 since we need to leave the room as it was at 3pm.

Members of the Book and Paper Arts Guild and the Midwest Collage Society…
We’re planning on a sunny day together for our
Book and Collage Festival
on Sunday, February 9 from 10-3
at the Darien Municipal Center
1710 Plainfield Rd. Darien
(This location on Plainfield Rd is about 1 mile west of Cass Ave and about 2 miles east of Lemont Rd.
Plainfield Rd is 83rd Street west of Lemont Rd.)
Plainfield Rd is 83rd Street west of Lemont Rd.)
We’d like to get started on the Envelope Book at 10am, so try to come a few minutes early to set up. We hope members of both groups will intermingle during the day and inter-mix at the tables so that members get to know each other. We’ll have the tables covered, but bring some wax paper to work on to keep your books and collages clean.
For the Envelope Book, supplies needed are a piece of handmade paper 5 ½ x 14” for the cover, another co-coordinating piece of handmade paper 4 ¼ x 11 ¾” for the inside cover, scissors, 12” ruler, glue stick and tacky glue. (If you have a scrap of either paper measuring about 2” x 4 ½’, bring that along.) We will have extra of these supplies for those who need them. The cover boards and envelopes will be provided.
If staying for the whole day, bring a sack lunch and drink. We should have our lunch break from at leastnoon ‘til 12:30.
Work on the Collages will start at 12:30. We’ll be using scissors, glue stick and /or gel (decoupage) medium with brush to apply and small water container, a couple of magazines from which to cut images and words, and any other images or papers you’d like to use, particularly if you want your collages to have a common theme. The 4 x 5 ½” substrates will be provided. We’ll have plenty of extra papers and magazines you can use.
During our work time there will be several collage techniques demonstrated.
Don’t worry if you need to be late for either project. We’ll do our best to help you catch up.
For those who cannot make it in the morning, we will have a short demo on how to make the envelope book later in the afternoon.
We’ll need to clean up at 2:30 since we need to leave the room as it was at 3pm.
Any questions? Send me an email at m.warner5@sbcglobal.net or call 630-833-0125.
See you there.
