August Meeting and MCS News

July -  NO MEETING
August 4th 9 am - 2:30 pm
 “Things Once Loved” Assemblage and Collage all day workshop with Donna Castellanos Donna Castellanos is well known for her assemblages  made from found objects. She will bring many objects that you may use to create your own small (6 inch) assemblage with the addition of small objects that have some interest or importance to your theme for your assemblage. She will also bring the glue you will need. Participants should bring the following: plastic table cloth, cutting surface. Exacto knife scissors,  a substrate (if you wish to create something in relief format. special papers and items of your choice that will work with a small format, and sn old brush for gluing. The workshop will start at 9 am with a break at noon for a short meeting. Bring your beverage of choice, your lunch and, if you wish, a snack to share. The workshop will continue until 2:30 pm, after lunch break.
September- NO MEETING Join us for the MCS Retreat! There are only a few places left... maximum registrations will be 30 people!

Tall Grass Pickup is Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, July 21, 22, 23 from 10am to 2pm each day. 
If you can't make it at those times it would be great to have someone pick up for you. If that is not possible you can call and arrange a different time.

 Every year we see new techniques at retreat.  Here is a peek at a retreat demo by Cherie Denton, called "Soul Collage".  If you would like to share what you do at retreat - please contact a committee member.

THE SISTERS PROJECT UPDATE by Margi 
The Sisters Project Soft Cover book will be available at the Sisters Project Exhibit reception for $70.00 There will be a book signing at the event.
Thank you to all of my MCS friends who helped make this possible. I'm looking forward to the exhibit in July and hope to see many of you at the reception at the Vogt Visual Arts Center, 17420 67th Court, Tinley Park, IL 60477 on Friday, July 12th 7-9 pm!

Please promote The Sisters Project and the exhibit to your families and friends. People who purchase the artwork will choose from a list of charities to make a tax deductible donation to, in payment for the art, and in memory of my sister, Donna Lee Johnston.

Nancy Staszak has six pieces in the watercolor show at Mayslake. The reception is Monday, July 8, 6–8 PM . The postcard is attached

Sandy Finch will have a solo show, A Montage of Original Art, at the Lisle Library from August 9th through the end of September. The reception will be Friday, August 9th from 6:30-8pm.

Basic Design Collage Sketchbook at LaGrange Art League. Classes are set up in repeat four-week sections. Check out which month might be good for you. 

Laura's work can be seen at Wauconda Public Library, 801 N. Main Street, Wauconda IL  until July 27th, with a Collage workshop at 1:00  on July 27th,
