MIDWEST COLLAGE SOCIETY NEWSFLASH
MID AUGUST, 2009
Please read the newsflash closely as there are several changes to our normal meeting schedule!
BLOOMINGDALE PICK-UP DATES
Pick-up dates for the Layers(3) show at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum are:
Saturday, August 22, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and Monday, August 24, from noon to 2:00 p.m. If youcannot pick up your own work, please make arrangements with another member to retrieve it for you.
SEPTEMBER MEETING
Sunday, September 13, 2009 (NOTE DATE CHANGE)
1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Darien Municipal Center, 1710 Plainfield Rd., Darien
Mary Warner will teach us how to make the “Tin Ladies” that we all enjoyed at the Bloomingdale
exhibit. Please bring the following if you have them, otherwise Mary has plenty of supplies to share:
jewelry pliers - flat nose, round nose and wire cutters
eyelets and eyelet setter (used to be known as grommets)
1/8 inch or 1/16 inch hole punches
pieces of chains, old jewelry, things you might have in mind for the type of Tin Ladies hanging at the exhibit.
BOARD MEETING
The Board will meet prior to the September meeting at noon. It is very important that all Board
members attend, as we will be approving the schedule and details of the Exhibit committee.
OCTOBER MEETING
Sunday, October 11, 2009 (NOTE DATE & TIME CHANGE)
We will take our annual field trip the second Sunday of October. This year, we’ll visit the Art Institute to see a Victorian collage exhibit and the new modern wing. We will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Columbus Circle entrance to the Art Institute. Passes will be available for free entrance through various members. We encourage you to carpool or take a train. Parking is discounted before 10 a.m.
