How to write an Artist Statement with - Robin Monique Rios, MCS June Meeting

Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend... finally, we can't complain about the weather!  It's been glorious, and I'm having a hard time staying inside.

1. JUNE MEETING
Our June meeting will be this Sunday, June 1, from 12:30-3:00 pm at the Darien Municipal Center, 1710 Plainfield Road, Darien.

Our special guest is Robin Monique Rios, artist and curator, who has her own gallery, 4ART INC in the Zhou B Center in Chicago. Robin will lead a workshop on creating artist statements. Each and every artist should have a current statement... and keep it updated!  There are a lot of misconceptions about artist statements, and many I've seen on web sites and at exhibits don't seem to say much (but use a lot of words to do it). Robin will help us navigate through all the hype and give some tips and tricks from her perspective as both artist and gallerist/curator. You'll leave with some new skills to assist you in your life as an artist. There is no supply list for this session, but you'll probably want a notebook and pen. Robin has already prepared some handouts as well.

As always, feel free to bring treats to share and items for the swap/sale table.  Please remember to take back home with you any leftovers from either!
