ART IN CITY HALL XI PRESENTS WORKS FROM THE MIDWEST COLLAGE SOCIETY
The Aurora Public Art Commission presents Art in City Hall, XI: Works by 30 Artists from the Midwest Collage Society. This eleventh Art in City Hall exhibit will feature collage work from 30 artists from June 2, 2014 through January 15, 2015 at Aurora City Hall.
Styles of works on display will range from traditional collage to mixed media and assemblage. The more than 60 artists who belong to the Midwest Collage Society work in media that includes paper, paint, wood, fiber, metal, photographs, found objects and more, and artists range from no formal training to graduate-level fine art degrees. Their collective works include figurative, representational, and abstract art.
Participating artists are: Barb Arntzen, Barbara Pompei Boland, Tania Blanco, Marge Boyd, Nadine Buck, Cherie Denton, Sandy Finch, Maureen Gasek, LuEllen Joy Giera, MaryAnn Gradisher, Margi Hafer, Donna Johnston, Carol Kazwick, Sylvia Koch, Cynthia Lee, Laura Lein-Svencner, Janet Lewandowski, Eve Ozer, Maria Palomino, Pam Peterson, Pat Pope, Elaine Rath, Jerri Reimann, Nancy Savaiano Rosenberg, Rochelle Sproviero, Nancy Staszak, Sally Tibbetts, Melinda VanDril-Beer, Mary Warner and Mary Yezek.
Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner established the Art in City Hall exhibitseries in 2005 to create a more dynamic, welcoming environment in City Hall. Art in City Hall includes two professionally juried shows each year representing a wide variety of artistic styles and traditions. Works may be viewed during regular City Hall hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding national holidays.
The Aurora Public Art Commission produces the shows, which occupy all five floors of City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place, and is currently accepting applications from interested art groups. Interested groups should send a CD of between six and ten works, a resume, a statement, and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Aurora Public Arts Commission, Art in City Hall, 44 E. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60507. Electronic submissions may be sent to Rena Church at rchurch@aurora-il.org.
